The work of time

Terroir de Courrèges is the first wine, which offers a piece of its land : a sample of soil.
This soil was formed by deposits over time, (from the Quaternary Günz epoch) by layers of pebbles, of sand and of silt, commonly called “Graves Garonnaises”. These Graves have been carried by the powerful floods of the Garonne.
Then the tributaries of this river have dug the valleys, “les Jalles ” leaving behind a succession of hollows and croupes (rumps). On these croupes, the drainage of the water and the poor soil produced exceptional geological conditions for growing vines.
The majestic vineyards of Pauillac come from these very same croupes.
